Happy Halloween layout

Less than a week to Halloween!
I'm not ready.
Seriously, how can the best holiday season be nearly over already and I've barely had time to enjoy anything spooky, scary or pumpkin-y?
Life, it's crazy round here.

However, I have been getting a bit of my scrappy spook on.
Today I'm sharing a layout showcasing my son's costume from last year using some fantastic products from Creative Embellishments.

Yes, he is totally monkeying around!
He was a Gorilla but they are not allowed to wear masks at school.
So we drew some bananas his cheeks and he filled this bananagrams bag with banana flavored laffy taffys to share at school.
He had so much fun and most people thought he was pretty funny.

We'll start with our gorillas.
The one swinging up top is from the Gorilla set
and the one in the second photo is from the Gorilla 2 set.
For both I put a base of matte white chalk marker and then used a brown ink pad to get the fur look and finished it on the edges with a bit of black ink pad.

When I was looking through my Halloween chipboard I saw the Zombie hand and thought it would be funny to have it reaching in for his banana. lol I love it!
I used the base layer of matte white chalk marker on all my chipboard pieces for this layout and then added some metallic silver over that and finished up with a bit of green distress crayon.
I think it looks plenty rotted.

I used a simple title to keep the focus on the photos and fun embellishments. This is from the Happy Halloween Word Set, with orange gel crayon layered on top.
Next up the Banana. I only used yellow gel crayon here, but then took a pin and cleared the little cuts in the chipboard on the banana so they clearly showed the lines in it.
And the finishing touch, these creepy eyes on a flair button from the Boo Flair set.

I hope you have a fabulous, lasting just as long as you wish, Halloween!
Have a spooky rest of your month!

Plague Doctor layout

 Hello!!
I had so much fun creating this next layout!
I love it when my kids get creative and put together their own costumes, but I love it even more when the costume is creepy, scary or spooky.
So what did my son come up with for Halloween of 2020?

What better than a Plague Doctor costume?!!
I loved every minute of this and he loved the extra treats and toys he got from some houses that also loved his clever costume.

Up first is our Plague mask; it's under Crow Skull mask on Creative Embellishments website.
I used metallic gold chalk marker and then added a little detail over the top with other markers until I like the look. I little red around the eyes never hurts. I colored the bottom and hat with black marker & then added a black acrylic skull w/ crossbones
Can't forget my creepy spider. I used brown mark on him with a bit of red on the pincers. I need to order more, my spider stash is getting low.

Any Halloween layout can use more skulls and creepy eyes right?
This one is from the small skulls set. I used matte chalk marker and then added some detail coloring around the eyes, mouth and cracks with marker.
The eyes are from cat eyes set and are wood veneer. I colored them with red and black marker.

Now for my title. It's the All Hallow s Eve title & I freaking love it!
I used a rust red marker on most of it and them added some bright red along the bottom. Then colored the spider to match the look of a black widow. When I was done it didn't stand out against the page enough to I went around it with some chalk marker, which kind of picked up the color that was already there a bit and then I touched up the bottom with more red.
Add another black acrylic skull and this cool crow flair button from the Skull Flair set and you've got yourself the perfect layout to showcase a Plague Doctor Halloween!

Happy Spooky Season to you all!

Creepy layout

Hello and welcome back!

We recently replaced the carpet in one of our rooms and we decided to have a little fun after pulling out the old carpet, before the installer came.
He didn't say anything so maybe this is normal?

I have a LOT of chipboard pieces on this layout.
One of my favs is the spider crawling up over the skull.
All of the details on are the Creative Embellishments blog.

Thanks for enjoying my favorite holiday with me!

Beware layout

Hello and welcome to my favorite holiday month!
Halloween is without a doubt the best holiday we celebrate.
Spooky, fun & as simple as you want to make it.

This layout is based on a sketch from Sketches In Thyme.
I love the spooky fun of Halloween so taking these sweet photos of my little guy checking out this jack-o-lantern and creating a spooky layout is exactly what I did.

Thanks for stopping by!

Zombie layout

 Hello!
Today is my birthday and because Halloween is the BEST holiday, I have created another Halloween layout as a gift to myself.
Also, I LOVE how it turned out!!

I seriously had so much fun playing with this layout and adding detail after detail. All of the "how-to" info that you might be interested in is on the Creative Embellishments blog.

But check out this closeup of the zombie hands!
Totally my favorite piece on the whole layout.

When you remember that this is chipboard, so it starts off looking brown you really get how cool this turned out. I'm SO in love!!
Happy Birthday to me!

Thanks for coming by everyone!

Spooky layout

Happy Halloween!

It really is the most wonderful time of year.
And the creepier the better!
I love a bit of "blood" and gore to help spook up my layouts.

This is one of my favorite creations this year:

All of the details on how I created this distressed, "bloody" page are here on the Creative Embellishments blog.

I hope you have a frightfully fun time this weekend!

Spooky Night layout

Happy Spooky Season!

I really can't think of a better way to spend my crafting time than to be making Halloween layouts. They're just so fun!

I created this layout using a sketch by Rochelle Spears and a tic tac toe challenge from Scrap with Stacy.

The sketch was super fun and easy to build off of and for the tic tac toe challenge, I used Orange/black, 4 photo & ink splatter.

Thanks for creeping in today!
Have a wonderful Halloween season.

Ahh, for the love of all things creepy!
Here is a layout I created using Creative Embellishment products and a sketch from the Scrap Room.
I really love the creepy and spooky even when it's a little cutie like this one.

Clowning Around layout

Up today is a sketch challenge from Sketches In Thyme.
Here's the sketch:

And my layout:

This one was cute, fun and super quick to put together. I used a white pen to do my journaling on black strips before adding them to my layout.

I hope you're having a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by.

Halloween layout

I'm sharing a fun layout today.

I may have mentioned that I love Halloween,
so it's extra fun for me to scrap Halloween layouts and photos.

I don't really have much in the way of Star Wars for scrapping purposes so I went with a cutsie Halloween line for this layout. I added multiple different washi tape designs because I have an addiction. lol And just had fun adding stickers and embellishments from there.

I used a sketch from Sketch N Scrap and a bingo challenge from Scrap with Stacy. I did black, banner & stickers.

Thanks for dropping by!

Scary stuff layout

 Happy October to you all!

I hope you're enjoying some fun fall and Halloween activities.
We just took my boy and a few of his friends to a local Haunted Hollow and they had a blast.
Good times!

Today I'm sharing another challenge from Scrap Our Stash:

For this challenge I started by picking a few pumpkin carving photos to scrap, from there I picked some papers and lastly embellishments.

I've had this cute little cut out in my stash for a bit and it was perfect for this layout. I used orange and yellow ink to create a candy corn feel on it. I just took a q-tip and saturated it with yellow ink on one end and orange on the other, then ran it along the title until I had it colored the way I wanted.
Add a few ink drips and some scary stickers and die-cuts, then top it all off with some enamel dots.

I hope you have a spooky, fun Halloween this year!
Thanks for stopping.

RIP pumpkin layout

Happy Spooky month to you all!

This is one of my favorite times of year! I love Halloween!!

Today I get to share a sketch challenge from Sketches in Thyme with you. Here is the sketch:

Now at first glance you might think this sketch would be a bit difficult to make into a spooky, fun Halloween layout, but not when you're determined! lol

Here's my layout:

First I started with some red and orange ink that I sprayed heavily and let run down my layout. The idea was to make my background look like your floor or table after pumpkin carving but with a touch of creepy Halloween to it. I had these super cute photos of my little guy just attacking this big pumpkin with a small screwdriver. lol He was having a blast leaving his mark on the pumpkin.

I decided torn paper circles would be great for the flowers behind the photos, but added more by making my photos a little smaller and then just taking up more space on the layout. From there I added some scary embellishments and a fun title. Last I added the black ink around the layout.

Happy creepy month to you!
Thanks for stopping by.

Spooky layout

Today I'm sharing a fun layout I did for the Scrap Our Stash blog and challenge.
Here is the challenge:

Halloween is my favorite holiday, so obviously I love scrapping photos from around the big day.

One of my favorite design elements for a Halloween layout is the use of ink, which made this challenge super fun and easy to do.

I really enjoy lifting layouts so I tend to keep the main design for my own layout. I added lots of ink in sprays, drips and splatters. Then I laid out my photos and embellished until I was happy.

I hope you have a wonderful Halloween month!

lil Pumpkin layout

 Halloween is my favorite holiday!
Such a great time of year with spooky fun and lots of treats and who doesn't like putting on a good mask right?

Today I'm sharing a layout based on this challenge from Scrap Our Stash:

Here's my layout:

This is my cute little guy playing around in his costume and in this large plastic pumpkin we bought. I'm not sure if he enjoys the holiday as much as I do but we sure were having a lot of fun.

I used different alpha stickers to create my title on the right side of the layout and some fun spooky papers. I set it all of with a lot of fun Halloween embellishments.

Here are a few closeups:

I hope you have a fun and spooky Halloween this year.

Pumpkin Walk layout

Hey there!
I have another fun fall/Halloween layout for you today.
I used this challenge from Scrap Our Stash:

Here's my layout:

I used the right side of the sketch but used larger photos so I have 4 instead of 6. My tag and twine are in the bottom right hand corner and my tab is in the top left.
Here are a few closeups:

I used washi tape as one of my layers along the bottom and then clustered some fun stickers in the corner with my tag.

I let my photo be my title and added the tab & date along with the cute stickers above the photo to help bring the eye to it.
I used ink around the edges of my patterned papers but let the rest of the layout be pretty clean.

Don't forget to enter your version of this challenge on the Scrap Our Stash blog for your chance to win.

Spooky lil Pumpkins layout

 Hey there!
We have officially gotten to my favorite holiday of the year! I love me some Halloween!!!
So this challenge was right up my alley.

Here's the layout I made:

I started by picking my photos and then pulled things from various Halloween lines I have. I chose a background that was a little on the plain side, but it has the required orange for the challenge in the pumpkins on the border. I love that it was black because it really helped the rest of my elements pop.

After that I added my patterned paper and washi tape layers before dripping the Ranger inks over my layout.

After it dried I added my photos and then started adding all the fun little embellishments.

I left this bottom corner a bit plain so my title would really pop. After I got it on there then I added a few more embellishments until I liked the look.

For my word I used these products:
C- circle stickers
A- Alphas
S- spiders
P- Pumpkins
E- Eyes
R- Ranger ink sprays

Come join us as Scrap Our Stash and show us your fun layout!

I'm Batman

In your best Batman voice "I'm Batman."
Love seeing my little guy all dressed of for his Pre-school party.
He had so much fun!

I used Oct's TSR kit and their sketch for this layout.
Here are a couple closeups:

I used foam adhesive to pop up my bats and star for a bit of fun.

Here you can see I used washi tape for some of the layers and added my journaling with chalk marker.

Thanks for stopping in!

October 31

I have some more spooky fun today!
Check out this layout:

I used a sketch from Sketch N Scrap and had so much fun with this layout.
Here's some closeups:

I kept this one pretty simple and let a few embellishments and these awesome papers do all the work for me. With the exception of my red ink. Gotta have the ink!
Thanks for dropping in!

Crazed Pillow Pet

It's the most wonderful time of year!
Halloween time!!
I love this time of year and I love creating creepy projects. I was just telling my friend the other day that if my hands aren't stained red with ink this time of year then something is wrong. lol
So today I have a creepy fun layout for you:

This particular year my daughter dressed as a pillow pet, which was actually quite adorable, but when she pulled this goofy face on the other side of the screen door from me it actually turned out to be a spooky photo. So I went with it.
I based my layout on the sketch from Let's Get Sketchy and used lots of products from Oriental Trading.*

I started with my base of white cardstock, then added these yummy glittery washi tapes. I picked these 2 creepy patterns from the Halloween paper for my photo accents and attached them to the background. Then I added my red ink and made some of the drips run down my page. After that it's just about the accents. This fun Halloween snap bead and eyeball charm are both from Oriental Trading.*

I added another eye charm with my title and finished up with these cool black potion bottles.
I had so much fun creating this layout and just love the creepy feel it gives off.
Thanks for joining me today!

*Oriental Trading sent me products to review, but all opinions are my own.

Halloween Tombstone Banner

I am super excited to share something fun with you today!
I LOVE Halloween and I love that I got to play with some cool Oriental Trading* items this month.
I picked a lot of Halloween items and made this awesome banner for the wall in my living room:

I hung everything right above my photos, its a little crooked (and so are my picture frames) but I figure that just adds to the spooky Halloween feel.

Here's the details on how I made it:

I started with these fun wooden tombstones and inked the edges and a bit on top in black.
Then I laid them on the back of my Halloween paper and traced around them. Cut the paper out, squish it in your hand (don't worry if it tears a bit), flatten it out by hand then ink over the creases to create the weathered/cracked look.
Slather your tombstone with glue, I used Mod-Podge, and put the paper on.
You can do all of them while you're waiting for them to dry, it doesn't take long if you make it a thin layer of glue.

Then you can do a bit of sanding around the edges and over the front of the tombstone. If you take off more than you want just blacken it up with your ink again. Then give it another coat of Mod-podge to seal it up.

Now for the details.
I cut out some chalk paper to add to the front of my tombstones to write on. Then added the decorations. The skull and crossbones were punched from the Halloween paper and I cut the bats, a jack o' lantern and the big spider out of one of the papers.

Here you can see the bats that I attached to thin craft wire before taping to the back of the tombstone and the Jack O' Lantern I cut out.
I also used one of these awesome black potion bottles to add to the spooky effect.

This is a side view so you can see the 3-D effect better.

On 3 of my tombstones I used these awesome Eyeball charms and these fun Halloween snap beads

My favorite tombstone? Probably the most simple looking, but it did take a bit more work to get the look I wanted:

I cut this big guy out of the paper using a craft knife. I used 3D foam to pop him off the tombstone and then bent his legs at the sections and glued the tips down for a 3D look.
Here's a closeup:

And here they all are. If you decide to set them up on a mantle they come with these easy to use bases:

Putting it all together on my wall, I used wide burlap as my base, added some cool spider webs and then these big spiders. They were the perfect touch for this piece. I finished it up with a creepy message using the Chalk Marker.

These were SO much fun to make!
They are awesome and spooky. Everyone in my family commented on them when they came home. lol You know it's good when the teens like it!
Check out Oriental Trading* for all your supplies.
