How-to w/ Moxxie & NAS

Today I'm going to show you how to stretch a one page sketch into a 2 page layout.
Here's the sketch I'm working with for the Scrapbook USA Expo contest:

Fantastic sketch designed by Shawn at Nuts About Sketches, I'm all about one page layouts (I just like the simplicity of working with less photos), but when you have more photos and the perfect sketch is only a one page sketch what do you do? There are lots of ways to handle this. You can mirror the sketch for the opposite side, flip it, make up an entirely different page adding similar elements or you can do what I did and stretch elements from one side to the other. Here's my layout:

I love these papers from Moxxie's NEW Easter-rific line! I have use them a bunch already and just can't get enough. They are so fun!
As you can see, I just pulled elements from the original sketch over onto my 2nd page. Here's a closeup for you:

I extended the purple bunny paper, the green stripes and the purple w/ blue polka-dots patterns all the way to the other side of my layout to keep the eye moving across. I also wrote my journaling across the "crack", along with continuing my doodled lines all the way across.

Using the chevron strip here also leads the eye to the next page. As you can see the layout is a little top left heavy with the title and embellishment. So to offset that a bit I did this:

I let my photo hang below the "line" of the sketch and then added my 2nd biggest cluster of elements around the photo, giving the layout a balanced look. Having similar embellishments on each side also helps. If I had put all of my punched flowers on one side and all of my flower buttons on the other it would look strange.

Here's the layout for you to see one more time (click the photo for a larger view):

These Easter-rific papers are just so bright and fun! I love them!!

Do you have any tips for turning a one page sketch into a 2 page layout? I'd love hear them!
