Down on the Farm w/ Moxxie

  Today I have a layout using up on the Moxxie blog using this awesome line:

I just love the rich colors and fun look of Down on the Farm! You really feel like you're on the farm when you look at these papers. 

Not too long ago we had the opportunity to take our kids to Baby Animal Days at a ranch nearby. I tell you there is nothing cuter than watching your little people hold and pet these little babies. It's just so fun to watch their tender sides come out.

My son just really loved the softness of this baby bunny. I love that you can see how delighted he is in this photo and then how gently he pets it in the other photo.

Lost w/ Basic Grey

Hello! Have you heard of the Original Scrapbook USA Expo, in Sandy Utah? Are you getting excited to go? I sure am! I can't wait to go play, hang with some good friends and shop some great deals!!

I received the new Highline collection from Basic Grey, one of the vendors attending the show!!  I fell in LOVE when I saw this line, its so pretty! I'm not a big fan of pink, but all the orange and color change in this line is so awesome! (It makes the pink ok lol)

As I was thumbing through my pictures, I saw these pics of my daughter at a dance competition and thought, dark backgrounds with light pink outfits, perfect!

I know these photos aren't the best. The lighting on the stage was really bad, harsh in some spots and way too dark in others, but I managed to get some photos that were not blurry and I love how you can see my daughter's pretty form. (She's front and center) Of course I had to use the photos and I found a sketch that had super tiny photos on it over at My Scraps & More, so I went for it.

The main draw for me was the design across the bottom. I loved the arrows leading the eye across the page and photos, so I used the fun Love This arrow sticker and then cut some chevrons out of some cute pink pattern paper to draw the eye. That hexagon sticker was just too perfect and it is a great way to focus the eye on my title. For the title I layered the black and pink alphas. Did you see all the alphas you get with this line?! Awesome!!

The banner here was hanging at the festival and I took a picture of it to use on my page. I used one of the border stickers across the top, but since it is a true 12x12 I had to cut it to make it longer to fit end to end at this angle. I just hid the cut behind this fun pink heart. I tried to stick with the light pink embellishments because it looks so awesome against the darker background of the page.

  I really love this line from Basic Grey and can't wait to dive in again!!

Be Awesome w/ NAS and MME

 I just got these fun chalk products from MME this weekend and I couldn't help myself, I had to break into them! Plus I knew they would look awesome with this colorful photo of my daughter from last softball season and this awesome NAS sketch by Shawn. First my layout:

Sweet right?! This photo turned out so cool!!

We had an awesome sunset happening behind her, but I did ramp up the color a bit in the photo. I love the way her hair looks like its on fire.

Here's the sketch I used:

You can easily see the sketch in my layout, but you can also see that I substituted some embellishment for the 3" photo and journaling spots, washi tape for the stitching (LOVE my washi!) and let the background pp be my title. 

Here are a few closeups:

I just let this bg pp be my title. I oriented my photo so that you can see the entire word Awesome and then add a few enamel dots to lead the eye through it. It's subtle, but with all the wording on the layout, I just didn't see the need for a big, bold title. I substituted this embellishment and enamel dots/stars for the 3" photo.

Here you can see that I cut along the inside edge of the corner flourish so that I could slide my photo underneath just a bit. I really love that look.

I wanted to stick with mainly having the black and white layout and the photo being the color on the page, but I did just a little bit of sanding around the edge of my photo mat and then inked it with a bright orange. I really like the bit of color it added. 

In place of the journaling circle I put this Project Life styled journaling card. It was a rectangular shape to fit nicely in one of those pockets. I just used an oval cutter to give it a good shape and added it with foam adhesive to lift it off the page.

Hello!

Today I'm using the new A Night to Remember line from Moxxie.

 
It's perfect for those Prom/dance memories and has such an awesome feel to it with the disco balls and bright colors on a black background. 

  My oldest is 15 and (luckily) not dating yet, so I didn't have any recent pictures that fit the "theme". I did, however, have an adorable friends photo of my younger daughter with 3 of her buddies.

I honestly feel like this line was made for this photo! (even tho it wasn't lol)

Challenges are fun!

I found a new challenge blog that looks like a lot of fun!
Do you do challenges? I like them because they make you think outside the box and get you creating something you might not have come up with on your own. I always love to look at my layouts that I do using a challenge and compare them to the ones I do w/o challenges. Often I find new techniques (or remember old ones) I like and start including them on a regular basis.

The challenge site is called 1 2 3 Get Scrappy.
They have a fun tic tac toe challenge every month where you can enter layouts or mini albums and wonderful design team projects to inspire you! They have past challenges up you can check out and do for fun, but their next challenge should be up on the 10th.
