dare to Dream

Thank you to all of the Men & Women who have served for our country! Happy Memorial day to everyone and thanks for stopping by!!

Today I have a nuts sketch for you, it's a 2pager that I chose to do as a single. I used the right side and flipped it to match the oreintation of the subject in my photo. You can see the sketch here.
And my layout below:
I used some 3 Bugs in a Rug papers I picked up because my daughter is so into owls right now and I loved that I could use that to reflect her personality a little.
As you can see I kept the borders of the sketch by using a loop border punch and then added one strip of pp accented by a green border to follow the sketch but left the top strip out, letting the title and my journaling define that area. I then added owls for a visual triangle (pop dotting the lower left one for a little dimension) and for a more subtle one, pink bling. I also used brown ink on my edges and added some banners to the top with a little washi tape.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to comment below. Don't forget to go see the rest of the dt's layouts, you won't be disappointed! Nuts About Sketches

May I??

This is the Scrap Our Stash theme for the month of May. Basically you go to a blog where you feel inspired and ask to lift something. I chose my friend and designer Aimee Kidd's blog, because she always has such beautiful and inspiring things to look at. (Looking for fab Father's day ideas? She just posted a totally cute one!)

But for this month's challenge I chose this layout to lift:
Treasured Moment
The bright, fun colors and patterns pulled me in and then you see those sweet bike riding photos and all the fun embellishing, so I had to lift it.
Here's my layout:

As you can see I kept the same basic design, but with different papers and stars where flowers were, it makes a great page about a busy boy.

I used BB On the Go papers and stickers, orange twine, EK Success border punch. I inked all my edges in black but went all out for the outer edge to give it more definition. From my stash I used stars - Heidi Swapp, brads - BB & 3Bugs and paper clip - BB and a white pen for journaling.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I'd love to hear about what inspires you and blogs you like to lift from, just leave a comment below. :)

Another Nuts Monday! Today is the last Monday of the school year for my kids and I have to admit, I'm not sure I'm excited about it. I've got some really moody kids lately and I'm not sure I want that attitude around 24/7. Maybe I'll have to come up with a "bad mood" chore list or something. They can work on the list until they're in a better mood, at least the house will be clean! :)

Well, let's get down to business, shall we? Shawn has another awesome sketch up today and here's my take on it:

This kit has been in my stash a little too long, but it worked great for these pics. My little guy is so into hats, so he loved this Cat in the Hat hat that came in his kid's meal and what kid doesn't love chicken nuggets, right? I love his cheesy little grin, makes me smile every time.

This is mostly My Mind's Eye paper and embellies. I spray misted the red circle to tone it down a bit, did a lot of inking, layered some buttons, stuck some pins in and doodled a border.

Thanks for dropping by and don't forget to check out the rest of the sketch samples on the Nuts blog. You won't be disappointed!

Brothers

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend and were able to get a little scrapbooking in. I was a little busier than I expected to be, but I got to play along with a couple of NSD events and then finished up this layout for today's Nuts sketch:

These boys are pretty precious to me, but they're wild little things. So moments like these are totally photo worthy.

I got this kit from Scrapdango. It's mostly Simple Stories but I added my own Bazzil Basics washi tape and the staples. I cut the center of the pp and flipped it over and taped it back in. The small tape pieces are cs stickers from SS, then I cut out the title block and punched the top, inked and stapled it down, added the photos, brackets, stars (after cutting the orange one down a little), added the burlap ribbon, twisted the washi tape and stapled it down. Then finished it off with the word stickers.

You can see the sketch and other examples here.

There's also a crop at My Scraps & More starting this week. Come check it out, they're always lots of fun!

Got Moxxie?

Why yes I do!
I am overjoyed at making the Moxxie design team and I am SO excited to show you my first layout with their products, that I'm not going to wait any longer.

I loved putting this layout together! I used Moxxie's so totally awesome Spring Has Sprung line that I fell in love with when they released it in Jan.

I didn't glue down the ends of the strips of paper, so there would be a little play there. I added pop dots under the photo and mushroom sticker. Then I added some dew drops to the banner stickers and in the bird nest and then used some stickles to help pop the beautiful flowers that were already on the paper. A little twine tied around a letter in the title and of course I inked my edges and you have a gorgeous layout of my little guy exploring the grass in the backyard all on his own for the first time.

Here's a close up of some the the detail and dimension I added.

I'm ecstatic to be a Moxxie Muse! I can't wait to showcase more of their awesome products! Go check out their new releases, they just posted to their blog, here. I can't wait to get my hands on them!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in my joy! :)Ange

Some layout fun

I've got a few layouts for you today. This one started with my desire to use more of the Bazzill Basics tape that I recently won. I decided to do the popular chevron design across the page and ended up turning it sideways after getting my photos and few more embellishements on there. I used mostly Simple Stories Awesome line.
This is all about my oldest boy learning (or not) how to vacuum.
This one I did for a one hour sketch challenge on My Sketch World. It was a lot of fun. I barely made the time limit, but I did some fussy cutting with those flowers. So I'm hoping that's why I cut it so close. :) I did tweak it a little after the challenge. I used mostly Bo Bunny and did a little doodling.
This is one of my latest favorite photos of my oldest daughter on the swing with my youngest son.
This last one is Monday's NAS layout using this sketch:
I used the backsides of some basketball paper from SEI. That's the best thing about double sided papers. If you can't use the front you have another choice on the back. I also used some baker's twine and did a backstitch around the edge of the layout to frame it. I did a little machine sewing and used lots of pop dots on the stars.
Love these crazy photos of my husband playing with our 3 youngest.

Shawn just posted a few new sketches on her blog. I can't wait to use them, they are awesome! Go check them out here.
Have you done any fun challenges lately? I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
Thanks for stopping by!
