Combining lines

 Moxxie has some pretty awesome lines! They are generally geared toward a particular subject but that doesn't mean you can't combine elements from different lines. You just have to think outside the box a bit. Which is what I did with the newly released graduation line:

 Of course you can see here how these papers would be easy to use with other colors. That's the beauty of the neutral colors that were used, geared so that you can use your particular school colors when you make your project. But what about those fabulous die-cuts and stickers? Oh yes, you can use those too! So I grabbed them and started thinking outside the box. What things here could have a double meaning? Lots really, look:





A lot of these can be used for other purposes, but the one that really caught my eye was "follow your dreams". After getting a 'feel' for the die-cuts, I started going through my photos. I came across a 5x7 print of my daughter pitching. It was the perfect photo for my layout and that, of course, led me to pull out Moxxie's Softball line too. I knew they would make the perfect combo. 

 The yellows and sandy browns go perfect with my daughter's bright green uniform and then the grays and blacks of the Graduation line become the perfect additions. I played with this photo a little in photoshop and turned it black & white with the exception of my daughter in her bright uniform, the yellow ball and her black mitt.







I picked the graduation paper I wanted behind my photo, decided it needed a bit of color to mat it so I added the green cs. Then I picked the fun softball paper for the base. I fussy cut around the ball at the bottom so I could slip some of the photo under it, picked out the graduation border to go under it and then just started adding fun embellies. I also used the right side of sketch #257 from Nuts About Sketches. You can find it here.
   My daughter is working really hard to be a pitcher so I picked all the fun die-cuts from the graduation line to use that way and then added some of the cute softball stickers and rub-ons. I totally loved (and so did my daughter) that the rub-on looked just like her. lol







Here's a few close ups. I love letting things hang off the edges but don't do it nearly enough. I also used a green marker to doodle on my title stickers and added green staples to attach the success tag.









I love the look of the brads on the edges of this sticker. I added more staples, did a little date stamping for fun and matted the Potential die-cut.

The Moxxie rub-ons are SO easy to use. They go on so easy and smooth, love them!

Here you can see how I slipped the photo under the edge of the fussy cut ball and I drew a black line around the layout to give it a finished look.



So don't be afraid to mix and match. You can come up with some pretty amazing layouts when you think outside the box.

Little One with Moxxie & NAS

 I have something fun for you today. I used this week's Nuts sketch to do a page for a baby album. Here's the sketch:

And here is the layout I made using it:

 I used the super cute papers from Moxxie's new Wee Ones line for the pp strip along the bottom, the journaling spot on the left and for some of the photo mats. Then I used the coordinating die-cuts and stickers to spruce up the layout. I really like how the banner stickers play with the Little One title in the upper right corner. I also inked and added a bit of doodling along with some buttons.

 My younger brother graduated from college in 2011. We are all so proud of him for getting through it and while raising a young family too. I snapped this adorable photo of his beautiful wife giving him a kiss on the day and thought it would be perfect for a layout. Plus we rarely capture these great smiles of his on film. 
  I used the beautiful papers in this line in lots of ways; for the background, punched, distressed and tore. Then I added the fun die-cuts for accenting. The only things here that are not from the line are the mini # stickers and the white gem rocks.

this is life!

Today I have a layout using this week's Nuts sketch and the Scraptastic club kit from March:

You can find the sketch here. I just had a lot of fun with all the yellow in this kit and then added bits of red here and there to add a bit of pop. It's so fun to watch my kids play and get along with each other. I love these moments with them all running, giggling and having fun.

Easter is over but...

What do you do with all those Easter Egg Hunt photos?
Well, picking out Moxxie's awesome Homespun Easter line was the easy part, but I'll admit I struggle a bit with 2 page layouts. Like everyone else, sometimes I have enough photos that I just have to do some 2 pagers or I'm going to be scrapping this event forever. But what to do then if I'm not a stellar 2 page layout scrapper? Well, use a sketch of course. So here is my favorite sketch site Nuts About Sketches. I am just in love with these sketches. They are so easy for me to use, even the 2 page ones.
 Recently Shawn posted a 2 page layout that I felt was perfect for some of my Easter photos that I needed to get scrapped. Here is the sketch:

And here is the layout I created using the sketch and Homespun Easter:

I did not have the perfect photos for this sketch, but I had plenty and I found a way for this sketch to work for me. As you can see I left one of my photos long and then added in embellishment where the other photo would go. Since some of my photos were oriented in a way that wouldn't work with the design of the right side of the sketch, I just put my photos on and then filled in the space with more embellishment. Super easy to mix it up a bit to fit your needs but you can still see the sketch design in my layout.

 Using Moxxie's stickers made it easy to fill in this photo space with embellishment. I used the cute Moxxie stickers, a little washi tape and a flower brad. You can also see the hand stitching I added here.















The main reason I used circles on 2 of my photos is because I took them on a diagonal with my camera. So they did not fit well with the grid shape of the sketch but I think the circles turned out cute and added a lot to my layout. Here I finished out the grid with the egg border die-cut which I trimmed down and then popped all of the squares of eggs out so that I could put them back in sitting up and with a few popped out for more dimension.















Here I used more Moxxie stickers for my title, a couple die-cuts, more twine and brads and pins, some of which were laying on my table for way too long. Love using those up!
