My boy

This is a photo from Jayse's one year photo shoot. It was originally a horizontal photo, but had a lot of stuff going on, on the left side that really distracted from him. So I cropped it in closer to be a vertical photo and then got it in a 5x7 size. Love my little man in overalls!

I used a sketch from The Scrappiest here. As you can see I followed it pretty closely, but wanted to use these cute paper clip alphas so I made the strip they're attached to bigger. The strip is actual denim I kept after turning an old pair of jeans into shorts for one of my kids. I stapled the denim on, inked my paper edges, doodled with blue ink on the wood stars and around the edge of the kraft cs and then added some blue stickles to the big star and for the dots between the half circles on the photo. These papers are the October Afternoon Campfire line. :)

Sweet fun

Here is the actual egg hunting pics of my baby with his older sister. His first hunt and she was such a sweetie to help him out. Made me laugh when she said it was hard to let him pick them up and not just hurry and get a whole bunch herself. (I've noticed lots of parents have that trouble too)

Here I'm using some really old paper, fibers *gasp* and a bottle cap. Yay for using up stash! I pretty much kept with the sketch from NAS here, but had a horizontal photo I wanted to keep big, so I switched that up a bit. I used staples, brown ink on my edges, stickles for my dotted circle and a little white pen doodling for my butterfly. This also works for the Baby's Day Out challenge at Scrap That Baby. Thanks for looking!

Dude!

What's Scrapping has a new sketch up! Find it here.
This is my take on it:

That is my baby boy cleaning the window with his tongue! It was so funny watching him lick and suck from the outside that I ran around the house to get some photos w/o interrupting his "fun." And the handsome guy giving him the look is my nephew.

I used BG Lime Ricky here and just went bold and bright. I inked my edges with black, used a black pen for some outlining and doodling the edges and also to draw lines under my journaling after I wrote it. The smiley face was made from the same Thickers I used for the title. The mouth is a ( and I used " for the eyes, but cut them apart, also used some for the tongue and spittle. Then used some of those other things I never know what to do with for the spiky hair. Finally a good use for them! lol

Easy card

I've got another card for you today. If I keep this up I'm actually going to have to start sending them. :)

This is using a super easy sketch from What's Scrapping. I really loved the cut circle design of it, so I stuck with it. You just measure and cut your pp to fit the top of the card, then use your circle cutter to cut out your circles and cut out a slightly larger circle cut in the same section which will remove a strip, toss the strip and attach your pp with the circles you first cut out in their place. Pretty easy.
Then I used a sticker sheet from my May TSS kit to make the "cake." The "table" is cut from a 12" border strip, the bottom green triangle is a photo corner, the orange striped "plate" is a bracket and the "candles" were orgininally intended to be banner flags. I inked my edges in charcoal and outlined my "cake" to help it all pop, then added a little bling for my fire.

My Scraps & More

is a new online scrapbooking store and forum I just found. They're doing a Got Talent challenge through the summer that sounds like lots of fun, so I signed up. Check out all the details here and sign up to play along with me. Please let them know Ange sent you, thanks!

Easter cuties

This turned into one of my favorite lo's. First the photo was just awesome with the bright spring colors and then the lo just really highlighted it well. Plus it's got 2 of my cuties on it!

This was based on today's Nuts About Sketches sketch. Great sketch for highlighting a favorite 4x6 (or larger if you wanted) photo. I used an old kit I had, fussy cut some flowers from the background paper and pop-dotted them for embellishment. I left the title plain but used a 3D sticker for the word Easter. The larger flower on the left is layered and I added a button to the middle, then I used brown ink on the edges of my papers.

Here's a side view so you can see a little of the 3D action.

I also sent this in to Scrap Our Stash for their May flower challenge. I thought these papers were at least a year old but something I saw the other day said this line was released in '08. lol How bad is that? And yet, I still love the lo.

Show-off

Everyone's got at least one right? In my family there's at least 5 (and only 6 in the family Haha!).
Here my hubby is showing off his awesome muscles he's earning in crossfit lately.

This lo is based on the What's Scrapping sketch posted yesterday. I used the May TSS kit, don't you just love the game pieces they included? There's always something fun in their kits. I used a border punch on the bottom brown pp strip, outlined the title with black pen and inked all my paper edges with burnt sienna cat's eye ink. I also pop dotted the photo on the right to make it stand out a bit. :)

4 lo's and a card

I don't know what May is like for most of you, but I know it gets kind of crazy around here. Between birthdays, graduations, end of school projects and the start of softball/baseball season(YAY!), I go just a lot bit nuts. :) So I have a few projects I need to post for you.

We'll start with Monday's Nuts About Sketches reveal. It was a 2 page lo, but I used the left side and went for it:

This lo is about Easter egg hunting in our backyard and my oldest daughter's inability to look for things. Yes, she's been this way since she was a toddler.

I combined two different alphas for the title because I didn't have enough e's and g's in just one pack. I wanted to pop the journaling a little so I did an extra patterned paper scallop strip and stuck it under the journaling at the bottom. The pink egg border is the sticky backed felt fusion from Queen and Co. and the papers are some older Making Memories. I added an oval of bling around the egg in one photo to highlight it a little. Then I blinged up the rest of the lo and doodled some of my edges.

Next up are two sketches from What's Scrapping. Today they posted a card sketch. Here's my take on it:

This was another really easy card to make, which is right up my alley. I just picked up some scraps off my table from a layout I just made and threw this together. I cut some squares out of the back side of the white pp to decorate the front, popped the middle one up with some dimensional foam, inked the edges of pp with brown ink and stapled the white strip down.
You can't really see it here, but the back side of this pp is a little hard to write on and since it was going to be the inside of the card, I just cut another block from the white pp and glued it in for the writing area inside. This paper line is Basic Grey's new Hopscotch. This also fills a challenge issued on the TSS board to use scraps on your table to make a card. Go check it out. They issue challenges every month to keep your creativity flowing.

This lo is for a sketch from WS posted this past Sat.

I used the Bella Blvd Family Dynamix line from the May TSS kit. I am really loving this kit! Following this sketch was a little harder for me and since my photos were horizontal I turned the sketch. When I sent my photo to Julie for posting I didn't quite feel like the lo was done, so I ended up adding a little more which is where all the stars came in. I inked my edges with a dark forest green, doodled some stars, added some green stickles dots and outlined the title with black pen to make it stand out more.

These papers you might recognize from the card I made:

I made this lo using a sketch from The Scrappiest blog. I inked all my edges with brown ink and added my journaling to the bottom of the circle because I had a photo going horizontally using up the journal block space from the sketch. I cut the u and e from the pp and popped them with pop dots. It was a quick, easy lo about my oldest and her love of art and color.

This was a just for fun lo.

Yep, I still do those now and then. Ayla is an awesome big sister who loves playing with her little brother. They have good times together.
I used the May TSS kit here, again. I used a sticker border for the banner, just cut it apart and stuck it to the string they included in the kit. The string is just stapled to the lo. Then I tied a little string around the border I added to the lo to break up the busy blue background pattern. I just got the monarch Martha Stewart butterfly punch so of course I had to use that and I added a little stickles to highlight the body. Then I doodled around the lo. Love doodling!

Thanks for coming by, hope you liked what you saw. :)

Easy card

At What's Scrapping today, Julie put up an easy card sketch. I don't make many cards, but this came together pretty quickly for me. So it's an easy sketch to follow if you need a quick card. I used some Cherry Arte paper scraps I had, inked all my edges, stapled the blue strip down, used jewel strips to make the star and some little letter stamps for the greeting. Then I just hand drew the little line underneath and added a little pen work to the paper edges to pop them more. Now, go check out the sketch so you can make your own quick card! :)

Lots of fun

It's been a busy weekend around here with my brother's college graduation and my sister visiting from out of town, so I'm a bit behind. I apologize to my avid follower Min and anyone else coming by to find a new post. Sorry it took me so long to update! :) So let's get to it.

First off NAS updated yesterday with a brand new totally awesome sketch and here is my take on it:
3 Of a Kind

My kids are awesome! While I was trying to get a photo of my girls, my son popped up in the background. One of his favorite things to do. I used the May TSS kit and just had fun with it. Originally I was going to doodle the border, but looked at the string in the kit and this idea hit me, so I went with it. :) I also wrapped some of the yellow ruffled ribbon around itself, stuck it to a couple of big glue dots and then pressed a jewel into the center for the flower at the bottom. Nice and easy! And covers the challenge from Scrap Our Stash for the month of May; flowers.

Sad Baby

This lo is about my youngest durning a photo shoot. He was teething and between set ups I gave him a rubbery toothbrush to chew on, which made him extremely happy and NOT so happy when I tried to remove it from the photo. Lesson learned.
I used a kit I just got from Birds of A Feather! A super cute and new kit company you should go check out. This also covered the challenge from Scrap That Baby, to scrap your little one crying.

Last but not least, What's Scrapping was updated Sat. with one of my most favorite Shawn sketches ever! Go see it here or at WS.
Sucker

Oh yes, my baby is a sugar addict and besides chocolate, one of his favorite treats is a sucker. So we gave him a little four pack of suckers that spelled "KISS" for Valentine's. As you can see, he was happy.

Thanks so much for coming by my blog and I hope you leave a comment, so I know you were here. :) Happy Scrapping!

NAS Birthday sketch #7

So sad today. It's the last day of the Birthday party. :( I know I'll get more Shawn sketches for every Mon, but it was so fun having all these extras! Ok, enough whining!
Here's my lo:

Yes, another 2 pager. This sketch would be great for one sided 1 pagers, which was what I was planning to do until I came across my older son's wrestling pics. I had a few more than the sketch called for, but that's when you crop and combine, so I did. I used Fancy Pants Rough and Tough line and cinnamon stickles for the "stitching."
Here's the sketch:

Remember, you have until Sat. night, May 14th, to link your lo based on these sketches for your chance to win the awesome TSS May kit! Mine arrived yesterday and I'm SO going to play with it today.
Happy Scrapping!!

NAS Birthday sketch #6

Gimme A Break!

This is one of my favorites lately! Love when I can come up with a fun title. My little man is always into everything and he is a chocolate lover, so when this kit kat got left too close the edge of the counter, this is what I found. I used some Fancy Pants Like Father Like Son papers and embellies, added some chipboard stars that I inked the edges on, some star stickpins, and stickles. I also used a star border punch on the bottom of the journaling block and then attached the punched out stars to the lo and punched some stars from the green backing of some other embellies to use.

Here's the sketch:

Don't forget this is a NAS Birthday sketch! If you create a lo based on it link it to the original NAS post to be in the running for a free May TSS kit!! Mine is supposed to arrive today. Can't wait to break into it!

NAS Birthday sketch #5

Here's sketch #5:

Fun stuff going on there!

Here's my take:

Yes, this is more Bo Bunny Ad Lib. Sorry, but I LOVE this line. :) I picked 2 photos for this lo and just left the one on the right bigger to take the place of the 3 smaller ones in the sketch. I got the basics on there, inking the edges with blue ink and adding in the fun staples. Then I added a little bling, sticker sayings and fussy cut flowers to spruce it up a bit. I really love these little butterflies and the fun part is the sticky on the back of them doesn't work that well. So after stapling them, all I had to do was bend them in the middle to get a little wing action.

Thanks for coming by!

NAS Birthday sketch #4

Day 4 here we GO! Gotta tell ya, I'm not really a fan of the two pagers, but I LOVED this sketch:

Just loved the geometric look of it, so fun!!

And here's my take on it:

My baby boy LOVES being outside (based on the temper tantrums he throws when he has to come in) and loves his little car just as much. He makes the cutest motor sound ever. :)
So I was seriously happy to come across these Fancy Pants papers I'd bought awhile ago and put them to use.
They had great primary colors over the kraft background and it just so happened that the jacket my son has on goes great with his car, so I picked red cardstock for the base. I didn't have 5x7 photos for this, so I just used 2 4x6's that I cropped for the main 5x7 on the right hand side, grouping them with the brackets instead of a photo matte and just used the one 4x6 on the left. Then added a little decoration to that side to balance the layout. I inked the bare cardstock and title letters with a charcoal cats eye ink and hand drew a road along the bottom for a little more fun.

There's lots more examples for this sketch on the Nuts About Sketches blog. Don't forget to link your creation based on this sketch or any of the other Birthday sketches for your chance to win a kit!!

NAS reveal day!

I was so on the ball last night getting the bday sketch post ready to go live early in the morning and then I totally spaced the regular sketch reveal. Such is life. (around here anyway)

So here's my lo:

I had a lot of fun putting this lo together. I was going to go with the whole egg/Easter theme, but then these cute little butterflies in the TSS kit called to me and off I went. This is more Bo Bunny Ad Lib (tired of it yet? I'm not. lol) But my favorite part is the white pen doodling. Love to play!

Here's the sketch:

And you'll find the rest of the dt examples here.
Thanks for stopping and have a fabulous day!

NAS Birthday sketch #3

Here's the sketch:

And my take on it:

Besides using the NAS sketch, I've added in some polka dot paper for this week's TPV challenge. I love using staples, they are so easy and a little hand drawn border always makes me happy.

This is my youngest daughter and youngest son. They are both so similar, to be honest, it scares me a little. No doubt this is going to be an interesting ride with these two on board. :)

Go to Nuts About Sketches and post your take on all or any of the Birthday sketches for your chance to win the totally awesome TSS kit! (I ordered mine!)

NAS Birthday Party!

The Party has started!!!
I apologize for not posting yesterday. My day totally got away from me, I need to use the post dater more. lol

But let's get right to it. Here are my lo's for yesterday and today's Birthday sketches:
Family

Yes, it was really that cold! The high the day we took this photo was supposed to be 16 and there's no way it was that warm when we were out there. BUT it made for some seriously great posed family members! lol We only had to take 2 photos. I was amazed. Here I used the (I think) January kit from TSS. It was loads of goodness from Fancy Pants 'Hot Chocolate' line and some other manufacturers embellies like the LYB naughty and nice slider here. I had to get 2 of those!
Here's Birthday sketch #1:

Snuggled

For Bday sketch #2 I used an even older kit. Mostly stuff from Basic Grey Lime Ricky. This sketch is perfect for using up scraps!! And I added in an extra photo to show that my son still snuggles the same way 1.5yrs later.
Here's Bday sketch #2:

Thanks for stopping by!
And remember you can get your name thrown in to win the current TSS May kit (that I just ordered!) if you go to Nuts About sketches and upload your creations using her Bday sketches. Go for it!!! You get pages done and have fun. Hope to see your creations soon!!!
