Climb and Papa

I've got a couple layouts to share with you today. We'll start with today's NAS layout. Remember you can find the sketch and more examples here and if you're interested in trying your hand at designing you've only got 2 days to get your layouts emailed to Shawn. Go for it! What have you got to lose?

I also wanted to let you know we've (Moxxie Muses) got something special up our sleeves for this coming Friday. So don't forget to come back and check that out. You won't be disappointed! :)

For this layout I just kind of let loose a bit. I've been wanting to do a little masking with the mist, so I did (love the little butterfly in the corner) and the rest of this is just scraps from an old TSS kit. I still have some stickers left but you could easily say I've killed the kit. :)  I cut a lot of the stickers down a bit, they all seemed to come in squares, and did some doodling on and around things to help them pop, along with some inking.

I thought I was brilliant when I thought to hide this Easter egg in the tree, but I think it was a lot harder for me to get it up there than it was for Ayla to get it down. But it was funny to hear her say "Really? I have to climb?" lol

Next up I have some more super fun Moxxie for you. Here I'm using their Forever Family line. It has the most beautiful prints and colors. I really love this line!

This is my dad with my youngest son and my brother's little boy. They're only a month apart in age, so at the time they were the newest additions to the family. I used Grandfather for the base of the layout and added strips from the backsides of other papers, stickers and diecuts, plus a little twine. I also did pen stitching in white and popped up some of the elements to add some dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I'll get back to you. :)Ange

Ready, Set, Blow!

How about we celebrate a little with the Very Merry Unbirthday line! Isn't this line just funtastic?! I love it!! I went back to last year's photos of my son's 2nd birthday and imagine my surprise to find that his outfit matched perfectly! lol

One of the things I really love about these fancy page designs is that they really do the hard work for you. Just add photos, journaling and a title and you've got a page. So easy!

Here I decided to 'hang' my title with the lanterns at the top of the page. I matted it with 2 different colors, pop dotted it up and added the twine. I also hand cut the little hat out of the punch out circle and added a twine 'ball' to the top. To help the cake pop a little more I added some glossy accents on some of the dots and stripes, also to the stripes on the hat.

Last but not least the candles were super easy to make. They're both rolled from the same pp but in different directions. I used glue dots to keep them rolled and glue dots to hold the twine in the center too. (Do the twine before you roll.)

Hope you have as much fun using this line on your next birthday layout as I did! :)Ange

Hard Rock style!

Hi everyone! I have a super fun layout for you today. Have you seen the gorgeous line just released from Moxxie called Musically Inclined? Oh yeah, the colors are fabulous. I totally fell in love!

So when I stumbled upon these photos of my youngest jamming out on the Hannah Montana guitar I couldn't resist. I absolutely adore his facial expressions!

I wanted the line to look a little more 'hard rock' so that's where the idea of the photos bursting through the page came from. I backed them with the b side of Band, rolled, tore, smashed and stapled the torn parts of Orchestra. Then I added the fun punch outs and stickers. I also added a little glossy accents and stickles to the main page design to pop it a little. Jewels, ink and doodles finished it off.

Thanks for looking! :)Ange

Stars and stripes challenge

For July the Scrap Our Stash challenge is Stars and Stripes, which for many means 4th of July, freedom and fireworks, but I chose to go literally. :)

You know at 2 you'd think that you could get a few good shots that aren't posed, but these faces seem to be Jayse's favorites when he sees the camera coming.

I love this star paper but hated the idea of covering some of those fun shooting stars, so I cut around them in the areas I needed with my craft knife.
For my stripes I used patterned paper. Why not right? It has all those fun stripes all fixed up nice for you already, so I just cut the section I wanted to use and attached it to my lo.
Add a little bit of tape, embellies, doodles, ink, name, date and warning to the world and you have a fun little layout ready for the album. :)Ange

Big Bros. Rock

Here's my Nuts layout for this week.

I had fun using the SS Awesome line to show the relationship between my 2 sons. They're six yrs apart, so it's nice to see them playing and having fun together.

If you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to leave a comment. I'd love to 'hear' from you. :)Ange

Growing Up

I've got a layout here using Monday's Nuts sketch you can find here, along with samples from the other dt members. Don't forget to check them out, you won't be disappointed.

This sketch was just so quick and easy to use. Even if you've never been "good" at using sketches you should try this one out. So fun and easy!
I also used the Scraptastic July Summer Picnic kit with lots of fun Simple Stories Summer Fresh line.
These photos are of my 10yr old daughter and when I was looking at them it just struck me that she's not my little girl anymore, but she's not quite to that woman stage either, thus the title and journaling sprang to mind.
This was simple and easy to make, mostly stickers and paper with some fun spray ink and of course my much loved inking of the paper edges and then a tiny bit of doodling. Thanks for stopping by! :)Ange

Make it yours

I'm here with a Moxxie post for you today. (You can see this entire post on the Moxxie blog here)

I got to work with the oh so awesome Happy Camper line. These papers, element and border stickers and die-cut sheets are fabulous to work with and the colors are perfect for camping or any fun outdoorsy activity. First off here's my layout:
These photos are of my husband and oldest 3 kids roasting marshmallows over the camp chef fire so they could have some tasty s'mores! Who says you need a camp fire??

Now I'd like to take you through my layout process. The uninterrupted version that is...

I used the front and back of Stick-y (that's such a cute name for this paper!). I just cut it about a 1/3 of the way up and flipped it over so you are able to see the fun marshmallows on the stick and the great brown w/ polka dots pattern from the back. Then I put a few pieces of tape along the back to help hold it together while I worked on the front. I pulled the wood frame from the die-cut sheet, added some metal brads right over the top of the screw marks and inked the edges with 2 colors of brown to give it a little more flare, cut my photo to fit the frame and attached it all with one layer of pop dots.
These border stickers are so fun and easy to use! Just pull and stick. I used one along the bottom edge, 2 along the top and half of 2 different ones for the middle, since my photos were going to cover the other half of the page. That way I still have the other 6 banner flags for another project. :)

In the past I've been afraid to change an element to go with my project, but instead of waiting for the perfect lo or project to use it on, make it yours! I took the fire, s'mores and both marshmallow on a stick die-cuts and trimmed them down for my page.  Making it easy to get that roasting marshmallows over the fire scene at the bottom of the page and then I used the s'more to spruce up my title and journaling area.

I loved the "s'mores" die-cut for my title so all I did was layer the brown ink around the edges to give it a little 'roasted' look and pop-dotted it onto the oval shaped plaid die-cut. Then I cut a few slits in the bottom of the oval die-cut and the top of the journaling die-cut to make it easier to thread my string w/o tearing them. The string actually came off of the packaging from a toy my son just got for his birthday. Tie your knots, add your journaling; I used 2 brown markers to journal, adding the darker brown to a few words to give them a little more interest. I put the entire title down with pop-dots also, so I triple stacked the pop dots for the edge of the s'more to get it up there with the rest of the title.
To finish it off I added the 'this is the life' sticker to the frame and inked the edges of the layout. I hope you enjoyed hearing a little of my process and that it inspires you to 'make it yours'!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  :)Ange
