Did you watch any football yesterday? We sure did, between running here and there and everywhere, and while we did I worked on this fun layout of my son trying out some flag football this past May.

He had a great time! 

He had an awesome, super positive coach and of course that turned into a WIN for the boys! So on this layout I have a team photo of the boys after they won, a photo of my son getting his little trophy and a couple of the season plays.

It's a little hard to see but I did start with this sketch from Nuts About Sketches. My team photo was  a 5x7 and the photo of my son receiving his trophy was vertical. So I put them along the bottom with a tiny bit of trimming to make them fit better.

I started with the back side of Field Goal from the Moxxie Grid Iron line, then backed my main photo with the back of Football cutouts.

I also used a lot of the front of the cutouts sheet for decorating my layout. The star strip in the middle, the strip along the top, all of the word strips including the title and the journaling spot are from the cutouts sheet.

Last I added some of the banners, chevrons & football stickers to fun up my layout.

My lil' cuties for Speedy Scrappers

I hope you've had a lovely week and are gearing up for a fabulous weekend.

Today I have a bit of fun in my layout for you:

I've used Kaisercrafts Party Animals line for this layout. The pictures are of my oldest and youngest riding the ferris wheel at our local carnival. As you can see they were being a bit goofy and just having a lot of fun. Great moment to document!

 I used the B side of Jive for my background, then cut a strip from Yippie for down the left side and the cute little lion out for the bottom right. I didn't want my photos to fit top to bottom, so I trimmed them down just a bit so I would have a little bit of room to play with their angles.

The strip of stars was the backside of a barcode and I cut the quote out of the Bop! paper.

I inked everything with black to make it pop even more and then darkened the already printed stitching on the alphas with a pen.

I have a fun layout for you today.

Love these little cuties of mine! I based this sketch on the right side of the awesome 2page sketch from Nuts About Sketches:

I used Moxxie's new Racing line for these photos of my kids at the local carnival.

Here I did a bit of fussing cutting on the g of Racing to slide my photo under.

I did some inking in black and outlined some of the stickers, including the white alpha from Moxxie, in black.

Start w/ Moxxie

 I wanted to jump in here real quick and show you this fun layout I made using Autumn Glory from Moxxie. (You can enter to win this line here)

I stared with this sketch from Nuts About Sketches

I loved all the arrow action on here and took advantage of that to do a series of photos from one event. I started with my title up in the right corner and brought the eye across the top with words, banners as arrows, and word stickers. I also outlined them with a black pen to make them pop off the page more.

Then I used the chevrons to bring the eye down past the journaling and then across the bottom of the page again to finish up the series of photos.

I used the barcode strip from these papers on either side of the layout, then did a lot of fussy cutting of the flowers and flourishes. Last I aded a bit of bling to them to sparkle them up a bit.

Now for my project. Here's my supplies:

This is one of those composition notebooks I pick up when I'm grabbing the kids school supplies.

They are all different sizes, so if you're doing more than one, measure each one separately. Put a thin layer of Mod Podge all over the front cover, then add your paper along with the strip down the binding. Give it some time to dry. If you get a thin enough coating it doesn't take too long but you might want to wait overnight if you get it thicker.

Then just have fun decorating! I used ink and a black pen to make everything pop more. The stickers are super easy to use, but the little owl was in a big circle that I didn't want on my book, so I just cut him out and inked his edges too.

I had fun inking the edges of the chalkboard paper with white ink. Love how that turned out!

Where to? for Speedy Scrappers

Hello!

Today I have a "traditional" layout created with a travel line. 

My family doesn't do a lot of traveling (yet) and even less out of the country travel. So this Now Boarding line from Kaisercraft was giving me a bit of trouble. However I did create a travel layout from a trip to WDW we took a few years back and then I came up with this idea:

A layout of my daughter letting her know where all of her hard work can take her. This photo has absolutely nothing to do with traveling. It was a camping photo from last summer, but it shows her working hard for something she wants (my sweet little pyro lol) so it was the perfect photo for me to use to let her know that "the world is hers" with hard work.

I liked this Luggage Carousel paper from the line and fussy cut the side of the stacked suitcases so I could slip my photo underneath. This World is Yours embellishment was a 3x4 cut cards from Sail. I just cut around the circle portions at the top and bottom and then popped it up with some foam tape.

Lots of distressing, inking and layering along with a bit of outlining to make elements pop and this layout was all done.

Don't be afraid to step out of the suitcase and create something totally different!

Family Fun w/ NAS

It's Nuts About Sketches Monday!

I'm super excited to show this fantastic sketch today:

And the layout I made using it:

I flipped the sketch to have the main photo (or in my case photos) on the left instead of the right. I mainly do this so the action of the larger photos on the page is going into my layout instead of out of it.

 

Other than that you can tell I stuck pretty close to the sketch.

Here I made my own cluster of hearts. I just layered the singles together to look like the other clusters in the line.

Using these paint chip papers for the journaling I thought would be really fun. So I cut them apart and used the ones that fit the theme of my layout best.

Hello cards w/ Kaisercrafts

 September already? Someone push the pause button!

I have a couple cards for you today using Telegraph Road from Kaisercraft. One of them I did make into a birthday card for my mom, but they are both really general on the front, so you can do whatever you wish when you're ready to send them.

First up:

This is the one I turned into a birthday card. I started with a white cardstock base. Then I used the 4x6 pocket page card from Receive on the front and took one of the 3x4 ones from Parcel and cut out just the "Hello Sunshine" portion of it to add as a sentiment. I rounded a couple of the opposing corners before sliding it under the portion of the flowers that I fussy cut, so they would sit on top. Then finished up with some clear stickles. Inside I just added a Happy Birthday sentiment with a stamp and then wrote in it. 

Next up:

For this one I started with a white cardstock base then added Letter to it after punching the borders. I then used another 3x4 card from Receive to add over the top along with the Hello banner and a couple of Irocks from Imaginisce to glitz it up a bit. Add your sentiment inside and you're ready to mail!

I LOVE this job! 

I've always been a fan of sketches, but these sketches that Shawn designs are easily my favorites. Here's my first one as a member of the team again:

And my layout:

My little guy is such a character! I enjoy every minute with him and his fun creative antics. I used Everyday Circus from Fancy Pants for this layout.

 Starting with the brick pattern paper for the back ground gives my layout some interest w/o overwhelming the photos. I really enjoyed the corrugate paper and used it for a lot of details on my layout.

Including backing my main photo which I had in a different spot than what the sketch called for. Don't be afraid to change things up to fit your needs.

I also used it as a base for my title.

This sketch is really simple and fun, it will help you create a stunning page! You can find more examples on the NAS blog.
