Some lo's and a card

It's Monday, so we'll start off with today's Nuts Sketch:

Fabulous as usual and so many possibilities.










I just received my package from Nikki Sivils badge giveaway! I won the Noah line so I had to break it open and use it right?




I flipped the sketch to go with my photos, did lots of inking, some fussy cutting, doodled a border around the page, added some rub-on stitches and stickles. I couldn't just toss the part of the photo with Jayse's feet curled over in excitement, so even tho the page is John's bday, the journaling is all about how excited Jayse was to help blow out the candles and the heart shaped photo to the left of the journaling is his tiny, cute, curled feet.








I found a card challenge on the Bo Bunny blog and decided to try it out. Here's the sketch




















and here's the card I came up with using their Ad Lib line.





I used my newest border punch for the loops on the pp, punched some butterflies to add over the top of some sticker ones I had and added a little jewel for the body. Then I put on the ribbon with lots of glue dots, added the sentiment and did a little doodling on the alphas and butterflies.

The February crop was music inspired so this first layout was based on some 80's hair bands. I used a lot of older stash supplies and some fun pictures of Jayse trying on John's hat.












This next layout is also about Jayse's hat obsession only he's not using a hat this time.


He's such a funny boy. I was just glad he did this before we broke in the potty seat. Again most of this is older stash supplies, but I did just get this washi tape and I had to try it out. I'm having a lot of fun with it. I see more in my future.












The last layout I have is based on a challenge that I obviously didn't read very well.


We were supposed to pick a song from a movie sound track, use the title as our lo title, use some lyrics on the lo and our favorite color. Then for extra pts. make a design element based on the song. It took me forever to find a song I wanted to use, but I came up with Watching You by Rodney Atkins and went to work with my Noah line again. I got the title and lyrics on there and then remembered I needed to use my fav color. Can anyone tell me WHY my favorite color is purple? Thinking I may need to change that. But I did a design element based on the lyrics (boots) in purple and had my lo all done.
Anyone see where this is going? Yep, totally forgot about the movie soundtrack part. rofl Oh well, I love the layout and I LOVE these photos of John and Jayse hugging while Jayse rubbed John's head.
So sweet.

Lots of fun today!

First off I'm going to start you with today's NAS sketch:
An awesome 2pager with lots of possibilities. I first started looking at it as a single using either side, but decided to get some photo shoot pics done and went with the 2pager instead.


As you can see I kept it pretty simple. I really wanted the photos I took to be the focal of the page. I kept the middle 2 photos a little bigger than the sketch called for and changed the circle photo to a star embellishment with the #2 for Jayse's age. I covered 3 stars with washi tape and traced and cut the other 2 from the pp, inked the edges of my journaling strips and some of the stars and added a little pen stitching here and there.

Scrap Our Stash
This month the challenge is LEAP and you are to interpret it however you want. So I leapt into a project. I'm really more of a layout girl, so projects don't happen often around here. I really love doing them tho, so it's about time I added in a few more don't you think?
Being the month of Valentine's and watching my TEENage daughter chow down on a mini hershey's bar made me think about the upcoming Vday parties my younger kids would need Valentine's for and there you go, project idea in mind.

So I gathered my supplies: candy bars, stamps, stamp ink, scissors, glue, pop-dots, super old Valentine papers (Scenic Route anyone? but still so cute!) and my ever handy trimmer (not in photo) and went to work.
First I determined the length of the paper wrap by measuring around the bar and adding enough to have the papers overlap plenty so I could double up on the glue-ing (which was 3 3/4 an inch), then I measured the width (2 1/2 inches) and used my scallop trimmer blade to cut the papers (I'm thinking any border punch or decorative edge scissors would be fun for this too). Add glue to the edges, wrap paper around the bar and press (the bars slide out easily as my 2yr old has proven). Then stamp and cut or punch your wanted embellishments, glue and pop-dot them to the paper and you're done! I planned to let my kids add their own To/From on the bigger hearts, so I stamped and cut them out and they're waiting on the kids to fill them out before I add them to the bars (or let the kids).
But there you have it. Super simple and fun, handmade Valentine with a sweet treat inside.

These would be great for nearly any holiday, birthday party treats, thank you's, baby shower favors... the list could go on and on.

My Valentines & a Winner!

This week's NAS sketch is the BOMB! Check it out:






Don't you just LOVE it? The second I saw it I wanted to scrap with it!









After picking my photo I decided to flip the sketch because I had a little more 'empty' space on the left side of my photo.


My scrap desk was cluttered with Valentine kits and product galore since we've been working on the kids' Valentine's for school, so this layout is just a big mix of product, mostly older stuff. :) Love using it up!
I crumpled and tore paper, inked here and there, stapled and stacked and even did a little ribbon threading. It was really fun to put together!

Wii Love and a giveaway!

First I want to show you the fabulous 2 page sketch Shawn made for today:


I chose to use one side of the sketch this week.


This layout is from my son's 8th birthday. Of course they spent some time playing the Wii right? What boys don't want to play video games? Brayden is a bit of a video game freak so I wasn't surprised. However I was surprised when he shot me this "I'm way too cool" look for one of the photos. It's so out of character for him, I'm still laughing about it!

Most of the products on this page came from an old kit I had hanging around still. I believe most of the products are Prima Marketing. It felt great to use up some of my stash and these epoxies were just fun.
For my darker strip behind the bottom photo, instead of using different pp I misted it a darker green and then added some rub-ons. I also added red stickles around the title to help it pop and into the center of a star, added string to the cb buttons and added the rub-on word 'cool' to my journaling.
